Institution: Stimulated by "State Compensation", flat panel sales surged in the first quarter.
On May 12th, analysts Canalys and IDC released the Global Tablet PC Market Report for the first quarter of 2025 and the China Tablet PC Market Quarterly Tracking Report respectively.
Canalys said that in the first quarter of 2025, global tablet shipments increased by 8.5% year-on-year to 36.8 million units. Specifically:
Apple continues to lead the global tablet market, with iPad shipments reaching 13.7 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14%;
Samsung ranked second with shipments of 6.6 million units, down 5.2% year-on-year;
Thanks to its strong performance in the local market, Xiaomi surpassed Lenovo for the first time, achieving a 56% increase in shipments of 3.1 million units and a 2% increase in market share compared with the first quarter of 2024;
Lenovo ranked fourth, with shipments of 2.5 million units, a year-on-year increase of 19%;
Huawei ranked fifth with shipments of 2.4 million units, accounting for 6.5% of the global market share.
As for IDC, in the first quarter of 2025, China’s tablet PC market shipped 8.52 million units, up 19.5% year-on-year. Specifically:
Huawei ranked first in the market, and its shipments in the first quarter increased by 13.6% year-on-year;
Apple’s market share ranked second, and product updates superimposed on the "national compensation" offer pushed its shipments in the first quarter to increase by nearly 10% year-on-year;
Xiaomi ranks third in market share, with shipments increasing by 56.8% year-on-year, which is the fastest among the top five manufacturers in the industry;
Glory and Lenovo ranked fourth and fifth in market share respectively, with year-on-year growth of 25.5% and 45.7% respectively.
It is worth mentioning that both reports mentioned that China’s consumer market, stimulated by the "state subsidy" policy, saw a sharp increase in consumer demand. According to IDC data, in the first quarter of 2025, the tablet PC market in China increased by 21.5% year-on-year, exceeding 8 million units.
