French media: Nuclear power demand pushes uranium price to a 17-year high.

(Reference News) According to Agence France-Presse reported on December 15th, under the background of renewed global interest in nuclear energy, the price of uranium reached the highest level in the past 17 years on the 15th due to limited supply and soaring demand.

According to the report, the uranium oxide benchmark contract rose to $85.75 per pound (about 450 grams) for the first time since January 2007. The price increase is the result of many factors, especially the demand rebound caused by the renewed interest in nuclear energy in various countries. Recently, France, Belgium, Britain and Romania have approved the extension of the operation period of several existing nuclear power plants. New nuclear power projects in many countries have also started. There are 25 nuclear reactors under construction in China, and Indian, Turkish and Egyptian countries are also stepping up the construction of nuclear reactors.
